An ADHD Diagnosis is based on established criteria, outlined in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5). ADHD is categorized into three subtypes: predominantly inattentive, predominantly hyperactive-impulsive, and combined presentation (please see our ADHD page for more information).

Our diagnostic process is based on the recommendations in the published National ADHD Guidelines 2022. Assessment and diagnosis and is conducted across 3 comprehensive sessions and includes a range history taking, clinical assessment, exploring differential diagnosis (other possible conditions that might better explain symptoms such as trauma, learning difficulties, or another disorder) and formal psychological testing using the most current and validated measures available.

Includes:

  • 3 x 50-minute clinical consultations (these sessions are available for a Medicare rebate if you possess a mental health care plan).
  • Administration of a minimum of four ADHD validated measures and a Psychological (these can be completed at home and online)
  • Profiling Tests (more may be provided based on individual history and symptoms)
  • Full clinical and psychosocial assessment
  • Full developmental, mental health and medical history (school reports or doctorsโ€™ referral letters can be useful)
  • Functional assessment of symptom impact: an evaluation of the functional impairment caused by ADHD symptoms, such as their impact on academic performance, social relationships, and daily activities.
  • Observer reports of the personโ€™s symptoms or mental state
  • Comprehensive Assessment Report
  • Recommendations for future support

Payment is required before your first appointment.

Before your first session reception will email you some intake and registration forms and an initial psychological test for you to complete. These must all be completed 48 hours before your first session, or your appointment may have to be rescheduled. It allows your psychologist to prepare for your first session, and for us to create a client file for you and send you appointment reminders and submit your Medicare rebate (if applicable).
