About me
I have 10 years of experience working within the industry with a strong focus on child and adolescent mental health and disability. My interest in developmental psychology grew during my training to become a primary school teacher. My time working as a teacher was short lived as I pursued psychology, however, the training and experience has been invaluable in my work I do as a Psychologist when working with children, adolescents, and their families. My approach to therapy and overall goal as a psychologist is to destigmatise mental health and help clients improve their own wellbeing. Iโ€™m flexible in my approach and work with clients where they are at.

Age Groups
In a clinic setting, I work with children from 3 years + through to adults. In a telehealth setting there are limitations to working with children due to age, distractibility, and engagement. Telehealth may be appropriate and more successful from the age of 10. Parent participation is recommended. Teens, young adults and adults.

Background + special interests
I have gained 10 years of clinical experience working as a Psychologist in schools and for a childrenโ€™s charity that specialises in neurodevelopmental diagnostic assessment and intervention. My experience further includes facilitating parenting programs such as 123 Magic and Engaging Adolescents. I am an accredited Cool Kids therapist and trained to deliver the Secret Agent Society social skills program targeted for anxious and neurodivergent children. I have volunteered my time with the Benevolent Society where I took on a โ€˜Big Sisterโ€™ role spending time with foster care children who have experienced complex trauma. I have volunteered as a crisis telephone counsellor for Lifeline and found the experience highly rewarding. I have a passion for anxiety and neurodevelopmental disorders in children, adolescents, and adults. I am a member of the Australian Psychology Society, the Blue Knot Foundation and an APS Disaster Response Network member and first responder. I provide peer supervision in the area of assessment and diagnosis. I am also a Psychology Board Approved Supervisor overseeing Provisional Psychologists for the purpose of registration. I was awarded the Deanโ€™s Merit List award for my thesis on The Dark Triad (Psychopathy, Narcissism and Machiavellianism) and the Mismatch Effect (High Distinction). I am also NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA) approved primary school teacher with experience providing individualised education support for students with Autism, Specific Learning Disorders, Touretteโ€™s Syndrome and ADHD.

When working in clinic with children, I also utilise Play and Creative Therapies.

How do you make clientsโ€™ lives better?
I approach therapy with flexibility and an open mind. I work from a strengths-based approach that assists clients to identify and utilise the skills they already have within them to progress on their therapeutic journey. I pride myself in being a warm, compassionate, and caring psychologist.

What do you love most about the job? What drives you?

From a very young age I developed a love of filling out forms I would find in the back of magazines, pamphlets or the local bank. I still enjoy filling out forms to this day so the assessment side of being a psychologist fulfils this special interest and brings me joy. I also enjoy reflecting with clients on their therapeutic journey and seeing clients go from surviving to thriving.

Three words that describe you the most?
Conscientious, flexible, playful

What keeps you busy outside of work? What things are you learning at the moment? Interests, hobbies, etc.
I am learning to be a mum. My daughter was born during COVID so my parenting journey hasnโ€™t been what I imagined it to be, but that is okay. I love watching her personality grow and develop. Aside from family, I would like to take a floristry class or try some one-day workshops. Iโ€™ve been getting into gardening, but itโ€™s turned out to be harder than I first thought.

How do you play?
Aside from playing with my daughter, I love spending time with by Border Collie, completing Escape Rooms with my husband (weโ€™ve done 50+), gaming, seeing stand-up comedians and going to the movies.
