About me
I have worked as a Telephone Crisis Supporter at Lifeline Australia. Here, I also engaged in a variety of community outreach programs, where I was responsible for promoting the core values and services of this organisation to the wider public. I was awarded the 2022 Judyth Sachs Award from Macquarie University for my position at Lifeline.
I have also fulfilled a variety of research assistant positions for the ‘Food, Flavour and Fragrance’ lab at Macquarie University. This is in addition to the position of a clinical research assistant at the Kidman Centre (University of Technology Sydney). Here, I contribute to a series of prevention-focused mental health initiatives. I am grateful to have been cited for academic authorship for many of these projects.
Further, as a Student Intern at Sue Stern Psychology I collaboratively worked with the principal psychologist and clinic associates on a variety of tasks. These included, but were not limited to, completion of reports both pertaining to client history, symptomatology, and treatment plans, as well as AHRR workers compensation claims.
Background + Special Interests
My research interests lie in examining the biological, psychosocial, and neurological factors which influence food perception, eating behaviour, and body image. My interest in this field, in particular, extends to the eating disorder population. Namely, the role that clinical psychologists and researchers play in actively advancing our understanding of the development, and maintenance of, eating disorder symptomology.
I also enjoy conducting research and presenting project results to a diverse range of audience members. For example, I completed a 4-month long project with Commonwealth Bank, which enabled me to apply my skills as a researcher to an industry-based setting. My partner and I were awarded the Competition Winners, as well as People’s Choice for the 2023 Attention Bucket. Further, I was shortlisted to provide a presentation of my Honours thesis at the 2023 Australasian Council of Undergraduate Research to academics, with a varied range of academic backgrounds. Here, I was awarded the title of winning poster presentation.
Three words that describe you the most?
Resilient, Ambitious, Resourceful
What keeps you busy outside of work? What things are you learning at the moment?
Primarily revolves around research assistant work through Macquarie University, and the University of Technology Sydney. Although this work keeps me busy, I am genuinely interested in and passionate about each project that I am a part of.
How do you play?
In my down time I enjoy trying new cuisines. This is a mix between cooking at home and going out to new restaurants. I also enjoy working on sudoku puzzles, yoga, and reading. Regarding reading, autobiographies are my favourite genre, as the life stories of inspiring others’ play a part in motivating me to become the best version of myself that I can be.
