Full adult assessments are available in person in Subiaco, Perth, or via Telehealth across Australia. Why book in a screener?
If you are thinking about an ADHD or Autism assessment, but feeling unsure, or do not have a referral, a screener is recommended.
Taking the first step can feel significant. You might have been wondering about ADHD or Autism for years, or only recently begun recognising experiences that feel familiar. You may want to understand yourself better, while feeling uncertain about whether to pursue a full assessment.
Our Adult Neurodevelopmental Screener gives you space to explore those questions with a psychologist before making a bigger commitment. You don’t need to arrive with the answers or feel certain that a diagnosis will fit.
A screener may be a helpful first step if you:
- Feel curious, but unsure. You recognise some ADHD or Autistic experiences and want help understanding whether a full assessment may be useful.
- Want more confidence before proceeding. A comprehensive assessment involves time, energy and cost. Screening can help you make a more informed decision about that investment.
- Don’t have a referral or recommendation. If you haven’t discussed your questions with a GP, psychiatrist or another treating professional, a screener can be a supported starting point.
- Don’t know which assessment to choose. You may be considering ADHD, Autism or both, and would appreciate guidance about the most appropriate pathway.
- Find taking the first step overwhelming. A shorter appointment offers a manageable way to begin the conversation.
- Want guidance about what could help. You may be seeking greater self-understanding, practical support or clarity about whether to pursue a formal diagnosis.
What can you gain from screening?
An opportunity to be heard, explore your questions and leave with a clearer sense of your next steps. Your psychologist will consider your questionnaire responses alongside a brief discussion of your history and current experiences, then talk through whether a full assessment or another support pathway may be helpful.
The aim is to help you make an informed decision about your care. Screening does not provide a diagnosis or definitively rule out ADHD or Autism. If a full assessment is recommended, we’ll explain the pathway. If another form of support appears more suitable, we’ll discuss those options with you.
